Doctor & Staff
Get to know the experienced and friendly doctor and staff who make Dr. Melman’s Eyeland: A Vision Source Provider the leading provider of vision care products and services in Voorhees.
Dr. Melman, Optometrist
Doctor Edward Melman has been in private practice in Voorhees since 1983. Devoted to providing top notch personalized care, the whole office strives to create a meaningful and useful experience to all our patients. Doctor Melman has a special interest in contact lenses and low vision and has been a long time member of the contact lens and low vision sections of the American Optometric Association.
Doctor Melman has an interest in the effects of nutrition on the eye and was asked to be on the board of the Nutritional Optometry Institute. Other memberships include the Ocular Nutrition Society, The Vitamin D Council, The Ocular Surface Society of Optometry, iDoc and the PowerPractice. He has served as the President of the West Jersey Optometric Society for many years.
In 2006 he was named the official team doctor for the Camden Riversharks baseball team and has returned to that role in 2012. He remains one of the top private practice users of daily disposable and bifocal contact lens designs in the region. Corneal molding with overnight contacts to eliminate the need for correction during the daytime is another specialty lens that we have had good success with in controlling myopia progression. This is often described as orthodontia for the eyes.
Doctor Melman has given continuing education lectures on eye disease, diabetes and dry eye conditions and has also given talks on child vision care and low vision. In 2012 he caught an epidemic of viral conjunctivitis and wrote the cover article on the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians Journal.
His wife (a pediatrician) and three children (10, 20 and 23 y/o) have helped stimulate his interest in children’s eye care. Locally, he is a member of the Voorhees-Gibbsboro Lions Club, the Voorhees Business Association, and Congregation Ner Tamid. Personal interests include chess, folk dancing, politics, international affairs and sports. He tries to keep in shape with participation in the JCC adult basketball league.
Anita Mizrachi, Optician
I have been Eyeland’s Licensed Optician since the beginning of time (or so it seems) and I take great joy in finding the perfect frame lens experience for patients of every age. I am married to the builder of this Eyeland office, Menashe, and have 3 wonderful children. In the spirit of work experience and slave labor they have all enjoyed working at Eyeland. I have also volunteered as treasurer of Art Goes To School Cherry Hill for over 20 years. Test my art knowledge if you dare!
Brittany Perez, Optician and Lab Manager
Brittany is a graduate of the Ophthalmic Science program of Camden County College and an optician apprentice. She is excited about researching the latest developments in optical lens technology and brings a fresh view of frame design and fashion. Brittany has spearheaded our transition to an electronic health record which provides a more convenient way for patients to receive their medical information. Her roles include checking patients out at the front desk, lab work making your glasses and helping you select that perfect pair of eyewear. Quite the enchantress with optical repairs and adjustments; with a wave of her Elder Wand a magical experience in our office is guaranteed. She has found a home with the Eyeland Family.
Shirley Emanuel, Patient Care Coordinator
I have a genuine desire to help patients and co-workers any way that I can. I have been part of the Eyeland family for over 6 years while working in the optical quality control field for 12 years. I am Eyeland’s multi-tasker extraordinaire an I enjoy crafting and quad riding in my down time.
Samantha Balmer, Lab Tech
These two are Eyeland’s make it disappear experts; spending their days chained to the shredder and scanning all our patient records. They are the little elves that make the behind the scenes magic possible. Getting that up close and personal perspective on the working world and already counting the days till retirement.
Samantha Bailey, Patient Care Coordinator
Eyeland is my second home. I really enjoy helping patients and working along side some amazing people. When not at work I enjoy spending time with my daughter and going on fun weekend getaways! My passion in life is to help people, in any way and I strive to make each day a positive one. I look forward to seeing you at your next appointment!
Patti Lamprou, Front Desk/Check-out
I am a board member, former teach, Eyeland employee, and property manager of the Dental Arts Building. I made a career shift and found myself loving the personal but professional touch we provide patients at Eyeland. I like to have my hand in many different things and I love to cook and bake, so come on over and let’s eat!
